Business Studies

Curriculum Intent

The curriculum in Business Studies is designed to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of business concepts, alongside the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in an increasingly complex global economy.

By the end of Year 11, students will have developed strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, an understanding of key business functions such as marketing, finance, and human resources, and the confidence to apply their knowledge to real-world business scenarios. As they progress to Year 13, students will deepen their critical thinking and decision-making skills, engaging with more complex business theories and strategies, preparing them for higher education or the workforce.

Our curriculum is broad, balanced, and ambitious, providing students with both the foundational knowledge and practical skills necessary for success. It is carefully sequenced to build on prior learning, ensuring a coherent progression of ideas and concepts from year to year. The curriculum is also designed to be inclusive, with adaptations and support strategies in place to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, ensuring accessibility for all. Additionally, it connects to both local and national contexts, helping students understand the impact of businesses on their communities and the wider economy, whilst also preparing them to engage with global business issues.
